My philosophy is fairly simple – take beautiful, high quality materials and show them to best advantage. My pieces are all individually designed and handmade by me.
I take inspiration from moods and visions, rather than more tangible things, and my work has a strong focus on shape, form and texture. I strive to create elegant, contemporary, unique designs.
I use precious metals, handmade lampwork beads and semi-precious gemstones. I love working with silver wire – the way it moves and can be shaped, and the different finishes and textures you can achieve.
I am self taught and have picked up hints and tips from books, magazines and forums. This year, I hope to branch out into more traditional silversmithing techniques.
I was thrilled to win the wirework section of The British Bead Awards in October 2009, especially as this was the first competition I had ever entered.
Some of my designs are made using a lot of precious metal and expensive artisan beads, as well as taking several days of careful work to produce the finished piece. These pieces are therefore more expensive but ideal for a special occasion or gift.
